Style

I had an amazing customer today. Looking like one of those fabulous pin-up girls, with flowers in her hair, precise make up and elegant feminine skirt. I was charmed! She was so different, so memorable; bringing something fresh and thrilling into my daily picture. And she made me think that it's all about the style. The way you look, talk, act, also think. Chain stores are like factories producing chains of the same people. Maybe the color of their blouses differ but it's still the blouse that was in some fashion magazine, produced in thousands or millions of specimens. It is so rare to see someone who differs with his style in the streets.

What would be my style? Maybe I have one but I don't see it?

One more time sentence from "Little black book of style" comes to my mind: be your own muse!  ( Check the post where I wrote about it first: http://martkadoroszko.blogspot.com/2012/06/stunning-wardrobe.html )

Big cities, small cities

I stopped to notice the difference between big and smaller cities. People wear the same clothes, people desire the same things and brands. People drink the same coffees and beers. Was there ever difference or was it just in my head? Maybe just people from the smaller ones look at you more carefully, afraid of what you think about them- is it visible that they have less of that big city glam?

I'm tired of brands. They're getting more and more aggressive, attacking us with posters and logos from everywhere, wanting to occupy our minds. Now it's more clear and simple for me that under each brand "philosophy" is just one thing that matters-money. We all know it, don't we? But we're still forgetting it the moment we see "New arrivals" or "Sales".

Too much thinking

Tell me... is there something good coming out of thinking? Definitely not from thinking too much! Thinkning too much makes me blue. Today I want to turn off thinking and my best method is to draw. So reason, go to sleep- time to produce some monsters ;)

Movie lessons

What I learned from movies:
...from "Julie & Julia" I learned that cooking can bring joy and pleasure, that's one thing. The other? That it takes time to celebrate the fruits of your passion and efforts. And life in Paris!
...from "Into the wild" something that changed everything in my life- "Happiness only real when shared"
...from "Juno" that it's ok to be bizzare. Especially when you can be awkward together with someone else.
..."Under the tuscan sun" taught me to eat ice cream whenever I feel craving for. And that it's ok to enjoy life and be extraordinary.
..."Midnight in Paris" was just another proof of my theory that my previous incarnation was French bohemia in roaring twenties ;)
..."Bridget Jones Diary" taught me to believe in Marc Darcy for me.

And so many, many more lessons! I'm very curious what are yours? Maybe you can share some here?

Two types of women

From my seller's experience I can tell you about two types of women that stand out of the hundreds of customers. There are women dried inside and the queens of life. What differs them?
Dried women don't answer for "Good morning", they behave like they're deaf and blind, like there's no one else in the shop. Queens of life say "Good morning" first, looking straight into seller's eyes.
Clothes and look? Dried women wear drab colors, rarely make up and jewellery. Queens of life love colorful clothes, precise make up and extraordinary jewellery.
Queens start conversation easily and with pleasure. Dried women escape as soon as I ask them first question, no matter about what.

How not to dry as life passes, as I grow old and older?

Bye bye trousers!

So this day came... I'm left without trousers, no mercy, just skirts and dresses! I'm scared! Will I be able to survive without pants? Without that safe harbor for my legs? Without that comfortable first choice from my wardrobe? Sure I will! ;D

What's all this noise about? I just threw away my last pair of trousers and now I'm fulfilling my wish of wearing more dresses and skirts. They are more complicated to wear- it can be too cold,  you need tights and oh, did I mention freaking regular legs shaving? But there are also advantages: it's just a one piece of clothing (if you wear dress) so no more worries about what to put on top, in summer and spring they're just perfect and they make you look like a woman! ;)

All those pretty girls

Why do I draw mainly pretty models wearing pretty dresses? I should add something more personal into them, some emotions, maybe loneliness, maybe anger? Anything!
Those were the usual comments from my professors. And while I was studying I felt wrong about it, I was trying to add some more drama. But you know what? Now I don't care about it any more because I draw what I feel, what I want, what I feel the best in. If you really want to find some deeply hidden emotions, look at the colors, line, blots. They can tell you was I calm or angry, self confident or doubting, happy or gloomy.

And by the way, did Japanese artist had to explain why their masterpieces are flat, without chiaroscuro? Or Art Nuvo artists? Did anyone ask them why the hell they're drawing, painting, sculpting so many beautiful naked women?

Then, dear Professors, I'm going my way!

Ultra cute

The older I get, the more colors I like. One of the biggest transformations in my life is from hating pink into loving it! My good old friends will cry: "Where's her sophisticated taste?!" The answer is: I have no idea! :D
Maybe need of pink is deeply programmed in each girl and you can't escape from this phase? I thought I skipped it in childhood and school times but it's insolently showing off now?
Help me in understanding this process! Maybe we'll find some clues in my older posts:

HiTech Generation

I have different feelings for super modern technology: once I'm amazed with it, then I'm scared of it (all those "smart" phones! They are really damn smart!). Today I thought my friend has new watch. I couldn't be more wrong- it was ipod. Ok, ok, can someone please finally enlighten me what's the difference between iphone, smartphone, ipad and touchpad? Because I'm lost in this jungle!

And it's a jungle indeed, city jungle of wireless wires of communication. My dad is joking sometimes: "Open the window, sms is coming!" but don't you have the impression that we all live in electric bubble? Thousands of messages and data are coming through us from satellites into our laptops and smart mobiles. If we're all in a World Wide Web, who's the Spider and where is it?

Cool Generation

There's a Polish song that says "How I hate your generation". I can't say the same about mine! I think it's one of the coolest generations ever- most of us travel and create, know foreign languages and want to make their dreams come true. We like to sit in cafes with friends and have crazy parties. As my boyfriend noticed: "Everyone in your country is an artist!" and it's very close to the truth. So many people here design their own clothes, dance, play instruments, is an actor/actress, draw, paint, photograph, etc.
Oh, and did I mention blogs? Isn't it fascinating how many people are bloggers? Willing to share their opinions, works with whole cyber-community?
Ok, now my imagination is running wild but I can't stop myself from comparing this explosion of creativity with artistic Bohemia from beginning of XX century. Am I exaggerating? Aren't Parisian cafes the same with those from now?
