The End of Art

I'm reading Donald Kuspit's "The End of Art". This is why I like school/studies-they force you to read books that you wouldn't even look at in the library. And sometimes they turn out to be really interesting! The author predicts the end of postmodern art and of the art in general. So sad... But is it possible? One of his arguments: "It seems that nowadays money are more important for art than spirituality". Or: "Art became another kind of entertainment for the masses." "None of postartists is ready to sacrifice himself for art or life." "Art lost its idealism and empathy."

Condition of art seems to reflect the condition of humanity. Trends in art are changing faster than fashion, Kuspit says. We all participate in a crazy race called life, very few of us  try to slow down,  to stop and look around. Do we really need to know that much? Have that much? Want that much? Dream that much? Do that much?
